In 2019, we filed a criminal complaint with IDF soldiers present during violent riots against three prominent members of “Anarchists Against the Wall”: Jonathan, Kobi Snitz, and Ilan Shalif. This serves as a precedent, as it was the first time these anarchists had been prosecuted.
Jonathan Pollak did not attend the hearings during the year-long proceedings and refused legal representation. After several hearings, when it became apparent that he did not intend to appear, the judge issued an arresting warrant. Concurrently, we attempted to contact him on various occasions at his home; however, Pollak responded with excuses for his absence. On January 6th, 2020, Pollak published an article in the Haaretz newspaper. He wrote that to assist in the Palestinian struggle effectively, “we must cross the lines and break the law; despite the price, we must join the rock-throwing and Molotov cocktail throwing youth. We must follow in their footsteps.” Later, the newspaper edited the article and apologized for what was said. Pollak, himself, was arrested that day in the offices of the Haaretz newspaper. He remained in prison for a month and a half. After several months, Pollak published an article in the Haaretz newspaper stating that he does not recognize Israeli legal or court authority. In April 2021, he was awarded the Leibowitz prize, and once again, did not miss the opportunity to wave his flag of support and encourage terrorism against the State of Israel.
